Job Description

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals for an Entry-Level Home Health Aide position in Morrumbene, Inhambane Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist beneficiaries with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide support with mobility, transfers, and exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks crucial to maintaining a safe and healthy home environment.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and ensure beneficiaries receive adequate hydration.
  • Provide medication reminders and assist with self-administration as per care plan.
  • Offer companionship and engage beneficiaries in stimulating activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and report any changes in beneficiaries' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the supervising nurse or case manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and observations made.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with beneficiaries, their families, and the MSF team.

  • Prior experience in caregiving, even informal (e.g., caring for a family member).
  • Basic knowledge of first aid.
  • Understanding and sensitivity towards diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Fluency in both Portuguese and a local language spoken in Inhambane Province (e.g., Gitonga, Chopi).
