Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive horticultural plans for various projects, ensuring aesthetic appeal, plant health, and environmental sustainability.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of horticultural technicians and garden staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the selection, procurement, and care of plants, trees, and other landscape materials, ensuring quality and suitability for specific environments.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively to ensure timely completion and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement and monitor irrigation systems, pest management programs, and disease prevention strategies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess plant health, identify maintenance needs, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide expert horticultural advice.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project progress, expenses, and team performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new plant varieties, and sustainable horticultural practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape management.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of plant physiology, pathology, and soil science.
  • Proficiency in landscape design principles and horticultural best practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid German driving license (Class B).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Arborist or similar industry accreditation.
  • Experience with CAD software for landscape design and planning.
  • Fluency in German (B2 level or higher) is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with local Cologne flora and climatic conditions.
