Job Description
This is a critical support role within our medical facility in Tana River County. As a Hospital Cleaner (Support Staff), you will be at the forefront of maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, which is paramount in a healthcare environment. Your daily efforts directly contribute to preventing infections, ensuring patient safety, and creating a clean, welcoming, and therapeutic atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff. This role goes beyond basic cleaning; it requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of sanitation protocols, and a commitment to upholding the stringent guidelines necessary for a medical setting. You will be responsible for meticulously cleaning patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, common areas, and offices, using specialized cleaning agents and equipment tailored for hospital use. This includes tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting all surfaces, fixtures, and medical equipment handles. You will also be crucial in the proper collection, handling, and disposal of medical waste, adhering strictly to biohazard protocols to prevent contamination and ensure environmental safety. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of all areas within the medical facility, including patient rooms, examination areas, waiting rooms, restrooms, offices, and corridors.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning agents and equipment for disinfection and sanitation, strictly adhering to infection control guidelines and safety standards.
- Collect, segregate, and dispose of general and biohazardous waste according to established protocols and environmental regulations.
- Clean and sanitize medical equipment surfaces, fixtures, and high-touch areas to prevent the spread of infections.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or faulty equipment observed during cleaning activities.
- Adhere to strict schedules for cleaning and respond promptly to emergency cleaning needs or spills.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with medical, nursing, and administrative staff to support overall facility operations.
