Job Description
Cornwall Regional Hospital is urgently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hospital Porter to join our essential team immediately. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and compassionately transport patients (ambulant, on wheelchairs, or beds) to and from wards, departments, and treatment areas.
- Move medical equipment, laboratory specimens, medical records, and other essential supplies throughout the hospital as required.
- Assist nursing and medical staff with patient transfers, positioning, and general ward duties as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of trolleys, wheelchairs, and other transport equipment.
- Ensure the immediate surroundings of patients are tidy and safe during transfers.
- Respond promptly to calls from wards and departments, prioritizing urgent requests.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies and health and safety regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, incidents, or concerns to appropriate supervisory staff.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift, push, and pull heavy loads (patients, equipment) frequently.
