Job Description

We are seeking a diligent, trustworthy, and proactive Hostel Caretaker to join our team in Mokola, Ibadan. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations and general upkeep of the hostel premises.
  • Ensure all common areas, including lounges, kitchens, and bathrooms, are clean and well-maintained.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify and report maintenance needs or safety hazards.
  • Coordinate and supervise cleaning staff, ensuring high standards of hygiene are consistently met.
  • Handle minor repairs and maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets) or arrange for professional services when necessary.
  • Manage resident check-ins and check-outs, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Enforce hostel rules and regulations to ensure a harmonious living environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and resident feedback.
  • Monitor security systems and ensure the safety and security of all residents and property.
  • Report any major incidents or issues to management immediately.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in property management, caretaking, or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic handyman skills for minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and responsibility.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a hostel, dormitory, or residential facility.

  • Familiarity with local vendors and service providers for maintenance.
