Job Description

We are on the lookout for a highly organized and detail-oriented Hotel Accounts Clerk to become a vital part of our dynamic finance department in Satellite Town, Lagos. As a Hotel Accounts Clerk, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our operations, supporting various accounting functions that ensure smooth daily processes and accurate record-keeping.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of essential accounting tasks. This includes processing accounts payable, ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time, and managing accounts receivable to facilitate prompt collection of outstanding dues. You will also be instrumental in reconciling daily cash and credit card transactions, preparing bank deposits, and assisting with the meticulous preparation of various financial reports. Furthermore, your expertise will be vital in supporting month-end closing procedures, ensuring all entries are balanced and accurate, and assisting with audits as required. Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
  • Reconcile daily cash, credit card, and bank transactions.
  • Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, and petty cash disbursements.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records, both physical and digital.
  • Generate financial reports as required by management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist in inventory control and asset management as needed.
  • Support audit preparations by providing necessary documentation.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or hotel-specific systems).
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent data entry and numerical accuracy skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry, preferably a hotel.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with Property Management Systems (PMS).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
