Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef and other senior culinary staff with food preparation and cooking tasks.
  • Perform mise en place duties, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP principles) at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for assigned sections, reporting shortages.
  • Operate and maintain various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support in the development and execution of new menu items and special dishes.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
  • Collaborate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
  • Learn and adapt to new recipes, cooking techniques, and kitchen procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Commis Chef or Chef Assistant (minimum 1 year).
  • Formal culinary training or vocational certificate from a reputable institution.
  • Strong understanding of basic cooking methods and kitchen operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
