We are seeking a talented and passionate Hotel Chef to join a dynamic culinary team in a prestigious hotel located in the enchanting Lamu, Lamu County. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to recipes and hotel standards, ensuring consistency and exceptional taste.
- Assist in the development and innovation of new menu items, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in all kitchen operations.
- Manage inventory and stock control, ensuring efficient use of ingredients and minimizing waste.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and rotation of all food products.
- Ensure timely and efficient preparation of meals during peak service hours.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and F&B team to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor equipment maintenance and cleanliness, reporting any issues promptly.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful working culture within the culinary department.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Chef in a reputable hotel or restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP certification preferred).
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative flair and passion for culinary arts, with an eye for presentation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Fluency in English (Swahili is a plus).
