Montebelo Indy Congress Hotel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Hotel Concierge Helper to join our dynamic team on a part-time basis. This entry-level yet crucial role offers an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a luxury hotel environment, working closely with our experienced Concierge team to ensure our guests receive personalized and exceptional service. As a Concierge Helper, you will be the welcoming face of our hotel, assisting guests with a variety of needs, from swift luggage handling and secure storage to efficient transportation arrangements, and providing insightful local recommendations for dining and entertainment. You will play a vital role in creating a positive first and lasting impression, contributing significantly to our guests’ overall satisfaction and comfort during their stay. This position requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills, capable of anticipating guest needs and responding with grace. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the immaculate appearance of our lobby, a key hub of activity, ensuring all guest requests are handled promptly, courteously, and with the highest degree of professionalism. Beyond direct guest interaction, you will also assist with light administrative tasks, organize incoming and outgoing mail, and ensure smooth communication channels between the concierge desk and other hotel departments. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and assist with luggage handling and storage.
- Provide accurate and comprehensive information about hotel services, local attractions, dining options, and transportation.
- Assist the Concierge team with guest requests, including booking taxis, making restaurant reservations, and arranging tours.
- Ensure the lobby area remains tidy, presentable, and inviting at all times, reflecting the hotel's luxury standards.
- Run errands for guests and the Concierge desk as needed, ensuring timely and discreet completion.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current events, local happenings, and popular destinations in Maputo.
- Handle guest inquiries and minor issues with professionalism and efficiency, escalating complex matters to the Concierge.
- Distribute newspapers, mail, and packages to guests and internal departments with accuracy.
- Support the Concierge team in administrative tasks and record-keeping when required, ensuring smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a welcoming demeanor.
- A strong passion for customer service and guest satisfaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying demands.
- Basic proficiency in English and Portuguese, both spoken and understood.
- Good physical stamina, capable of lifting and carrying luggage up to 25 kg.
- A positive attitude, reliability, flexibility, and strong work ethic.
- Proactive and observant, with an eye for detail and the ability to anticipate guest needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within the hospitality or tourism sector.
- Familiarity with the Costa do Sol and wider Maputo area, including local attractions and services.
- Ability to communicate in additional languages (e.g., French, Spanish, or local dialects) is a distinct advantage.
- A valid driver's license is an advantage but not required for this specific role.
