Career.zycto is actively seeking a professional, courteous, and highly vigilant Hotel Doorman to join a distinguished hospitality team in Awada, Onitsha. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their entire stay. As a Hotel Doorman, you will be instrumental in creating an exceptional arrival and departure experience, ensuring every guest feels welcomed, secure, and valued from the moment they step onto the property until their departure.
Your primary responsibilities will involve extending a warm welcome to all guests, assisting with luggage handling, and coordinating valet services or directing parking as needed. Beyond these initial interactions, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the security and orderly flow of the hotel entrance, monitoring for any suspicious activity, and ensuring the safety of guests and their belongings. This position requires an individual with an impeccable sense of decorum, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to provide outstanding service.
You will be expected to possess a deep understanding of local attractions, transportation options, and hotel amenities to provide accurate and helpful information to guests upon request. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet all arriving and departing guests with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Assist guests with luggage handling, loading, and unloading from vehicles.
- Summon taxis, private cars, or direct guests to parking facilities as required.
- Maintain a constant presence at the hotel entrance, ensuring a clean and orderly environment.
- Monitor and control access to the hotel, reporting any suspicious activities or unauthorized persons.
- Provide accurate information regarding hotel services, local attractions, and transportation options.
- Anticipate guest needs and offer proactive assistance, ensuring a seamless experience.
- Communicate effectively with other hotel departments to facilitate guest requests and resolve issues.
- Adhere to all hotel safety and security procedures and protocols.
- Ensure the exterior of the hotel, including the driveway and entrance, is always presentable.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service or hospitality role, preferably as a doorman or porter.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a proactive and helpful attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting luggage up to 25kg.
- Impeccable personal grooming and professional presentation.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and honesty.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Basic understanding of security protocols and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a 3-star or higher hotel environment.
- Familiarity with the Awada, Onitsha area and its local amenities and attractions.
- Ability to speak additional local languages (e.g., Igbo) is a plus.
- Valid driver's license (advantageous if valet services are occasionally required).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
