Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hotel Electrician for an immediate start at a reputable hotel located in the bustling Ring Road area of Ibadan. This pivotal role requires a dedicated professional capable of performing a wide range of electrical tasks, from routine maintenance to emergency repairs, ensuring the hotel’s electrical systems operate flawlessly 24/7. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be instrumental in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and fully functional environment for guests and staff alike. Your expertise will directly contribute to the seamless operation of all hotel facilities, including lighting, power distribution, HVAC electrical components, and essential backup systems. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the hotel premises.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, including wiring issues, circuit breakers, lighting fixtures, and power outlets.
- Install new electrical systems, wiring, and equipment in accordance with safety standards and building codes.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns and ensure timely resolution to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on generators, UPS systems, and other critical electrical infrastructure.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems, security systems, and other low-voltage wiring.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
- Ensure compliance with all electrical safety regulations, national codes, and hotel policies.
- Collaborate effectively with other engineering team members and hotel departments to coordinate work and address issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Electrician, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and components (single-phase and three-phase).
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical faults using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
- Familiarity with local electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, including lifting and working in various positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate or relevant vocational qualification in Electrical Installation.
- OND/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS).
- Certification in safety procedures (e.g., First Aid, Fire Safety).
- Familiarity with generator maintenance and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
