Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Hotel Night Receptionist to join our team in the heart of Clerkenwell, London. This pivotal overnight role is more than just checking guests in and out; it’s about being the welcoming face and reassuring presence for our guests when the city sleeps. Working independently yet as an integral part of our broader team, you will manage front desk operations, handle guest inquiries and requests, perform essential security checks, and prepare the hotel for the busy day ahead. This position demands a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to maintain composure in all situations. You will oversee the quiet efficiency of our front office, process late arrivals and early departures, audit daily transactions, and compile reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with hotel standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome and register late-arriving guests, efficiently processing check-ins and check-outs.
  • Handle all guest inquiries, requests, and complaints with professionalism, discretion, and a solution-oriented approach.
  • Conduct regular security patrols of the hotel premises to ensure guest safety and property security.
  • Perform the nightly audit, reconciling daily transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Manage telephone and email correspondence, providing information and assistance as required.
  • Process payments, manage guest accounts, and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Act as a point of contact for emergency situations, coordinating with relevant departments or external services.
  • Prepare breakfast areas and necessary documentation for the morning shift.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area.
  • Monitor CCTV systems and fire alarm panels, responding promptly to alerts.
  • Assist with basic concierge services, such as taxi bookings or local information requests.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction and operational smoothness.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a front desk or reception role within the hospitality industry.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in hotel management software (PMS) – e.g., Opera, Fidelio, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in unsupervised situations.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a calm and professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Night Auditor or Night Manager.
  • A second language proficiency, particularly European languages.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Hospitality-related qualification or degree.
