Job Description

Fumba Beach Lodge is seeking a meticulous and reliable Hotel Pool Cleaning Attendant to join our dedicated team. This crucial part-time role ensures our swimming pools are pristine, safe, and inviting for all our cherished guests. As a Pool Cleaning Attendant, you will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene that define the Fumba Beach Lodge experience. You will be responsible for the daily upkeep of our pool areas, ensuring water quality meets strict health guidelines, and the surrounding environment is always immaculate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks for hotel swimming pools, including skimming debris, vacuuming pool bottoms, and brushing pool walls and tiles.
  • Monitor and test pool chemical levels (pH, chlorine, alkalinity) regularly and adjust as necessary to maintain optimal water quality and safety standards.
  • Inspect pool equipment, including filters, pumps, and heating systems, for proper operation and report any malfunctions or repair needs to management.
  • Clean and sanitize pool decks, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and all surrounding areas to ensure a tidy and welcoming environment.
  • Empty waste bins and replenish supplies in pool changing rooms and restrooms, ensuring they are always clean and well-stocked.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations pertinent to pool maintenance and guest safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of pool chemical readings, maintenance activities, and equipment checks.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with guests, addressing any immediate concerns regarding the pool area with a friendly and helpful attitude.
  • Report any potential hazards, damage, or guest feedback to the immediate supervisor promptly.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of pool chemistry and water testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating various pool cleaning equipment (e.g., skimmers, vacuums, brushes).
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 kg), and standing for extended periods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with flexible schedules.
  • Basic communication skills in English to understand instructions and interact with guests/team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in pool maintenance, preferably within a hotel, resort, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Certification in Pool Operator (CPO) or similar water safety/maintenance training.
  • Knowledge of local health and safety regulations pertaining to swimming pools in Tanzania/Zanzibar.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Swahili.
