Career.zycto is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and energetic Hotel Porter to join the team of one of our esteemed hospitality clients located in the vibrant Rumuola district of Port Harcourt. As a Hotel Porter, you will be the first point of contact for many guests, playing a crucial role in creating a positive and lasting first impression. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around providing exceptional service, assisting guests with their luggage, and ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their stay. This role requires a professional demeanor, strong physical stamina, and a genuine passion for hospitality. You will be instrumental in the smooth operation of the hotel, working closely with the front desk and other departments to deliver a seamless and memorable experience for every guest. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, observant, and eager to go the extra mile to anticipate and fulfill guest needs, contributing significantly to the hotel’s reputation for outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival and departure, assisting them with luggage to and from their rooms and vehicles.
  • Provide attentive assistance to guests with special needs or requests, ensuring their comfort and accessibility.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel lobby, entrance, and public areas, alerting housekeeping to any immediate needs.
  • Assist the Front Desk team with various tasks, including delivering messages, packages, and amenities to guest rooms.
  • Offer knowledgeable information about hotel services, facilities, and local attractions in Port Harcourt.
  • Ensure the secure handling and storage of guest luggage and personal belongings.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries and minor requests, escalating complex issues to appropriate departments.

Required Skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • A positive, proactive, and friendly attitude with a professional appearance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Basic understanding of hotel operations and guest service protocols.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Hotel Porter, Bellhop, or in a similar guest service role within the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with the Rumuola/Port Harcourt area and local attractions.
  • Valid driver's license (Class C or equivalent) for potential valet or errand duties.
