Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival and departure, offering assistance with luggage and anticipating their needs.
  • Safely and efficiently transport guest luggage to and from rooms, ensuring proper handling, tagging, and storage.
  • Assist guests with various inquiries, provide clear directions, and offer comprehensive information about hotel services and local attractions.
  • Maintain a pristine, tidy, and welcoming lobby and entrance area, proactively addressing any immediate cleanliness or organizational needs.
  • Run errands for guests and management as required, demonstrating reliability, discretion, and a positive attitude.
  • Ensure the security of guest belongings and property, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or incidents to management.
  • Support other hotel departments (Front Desk, Housekeeping, Concierge) as needed to ensure smooth overall operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with the delivery of newspapers, mail, packages, and other items to guest rooms or designated areas.
  • Operate hotel vehicles (if properly licensed and authorized) for guest transport or specific hotel errands, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Proactive, helpful, and courteous attitude with a consistently professional demeanor.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per hotel operational needs.
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and strong attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of hotel operations, guest services, and common guest needs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a hotel porter, bellhop, or in a similar guest service role within the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with the Victoria Island area, including local attractions, dining, and transportation options.
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., French, Arabic, Mandarin) is an advantage for our diverse guest base.
  • Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G, depending on hotel vehicle requirements).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
