Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet guests upon arrival and assist with the loading and unloading of luggage from vehicles, including tour buses and private cars.
- Efficiently transport guest luggage to and from rooms, ensuring safe and timely delivery, and storing it securely when necessary.
- Provide clear and concise directions to hotel facilities, local attractions, and guest rooms, offering helpful recommendations.
- Assist guests with general inquiries, providing information about hotel services, amenities, and local points of interest with enthusiasm.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby area, proactively addressing any tidiness issues and reporting maintenance needs.
- Support the Front Desk and other departments as needed, including delivering items to rooms, running errands, and assisting with special requests promptly.
- Ensure the security of guest belongings and hotel property by following established procedures and being vigilant.
- Operate luggage carts and other equipment safely and responsibly, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
- Respond to guest requests and complaints with professionalism and efficiency, escalating complex issues to management when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to all hotel safety and security policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 25kg) for extended periods.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a polite, helpful, and cheerful demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with grace.
- Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility and initiative.
- Basic knowledge of hotel operations and guest service principles, with a 'can-do' attitude.
- Fluency in English and Sesotho to effectively communicate with a diverse guest base.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6-12 months) in a hotel, resort, or customer service role, demonstrating a passion for hospitality.
- Knowledge of other local languages or common tourist languages is a significant advantage.
- A valid driver’s license (for potential assistance with guest transfers or errands, though not strictly required for the porter role).
