Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and assist with efficient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Process reservations, cancellations, and modifications accurately using our property management system.
  • Respond to guest inquiries, provide comprehensive information about hotel services, facilities, and local attractions.
  • Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly, professionally, and with genuine empathy, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Manage incoming phone calls, emails, and other communications with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Process payments, manage cash and credit card transactions, and maintain accurate billing records.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and welcoming front desk area at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments, including housekeeping, maintenance, and concierge, to fulfill guest requests.
  • Adhere strictly to all hotel policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a secure and pleasant environment for all.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks as needed to support smooth front office operations.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities, with a natural inclination to assist others.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing and email.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per hotel operational needs.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent secondary education.

  • Familiarity with hotel property management systems (PMS) is a plus, though comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Basic knowledge of local attractions, dining, and points of interest in Ottawa and the surrounding area.
  • Fluency in French or other languages is considered an asset.
