Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and manage check-in/check-out procedures efficiently and accurately.
  • Handle all guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
  • Manage reservations accurately, including bookings, modifications, and cancellations, using the property management system.
  • Process payments, maintain accurate billing records, and handle cash and credit card transactions securely.
  • Provide comprehensive information about hotel facilities, services, local attractions, and transportation.
  • Coordinate effectively with other hotel departments (housekeeping, concierge, F&B) to fulfill guest needs and special requests.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and presentable front desk and lobby area at all times.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining guest records.
  • Adhere strictly to all hotel policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including emergency protocols.
  • Act as a point of contact for emergency situations, demonstrating calm and effective response, and escalating when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Hotel Receptionist or in a similar customer service role within the hospitality industry (minimum 1 year).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
  • Proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS), such as Opera, Fidelio, or similar hotel software.
  • Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a genuine desire to assist guests.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous under pressure.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles for cash handling and billing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of an additional language (e.g., German, Mandarin, Hindi) to cater to diverse international guests.
  • Familiarity with local Mauritian culture, popular attractions, and tourism offerings.
  • Experience with revenue management or upsell techniques to enhance guest experiences and hotel revenue.
