Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests, manage check-in and check-out processes efficiently, and assign rooms.
- Handle all guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues when necessary.
- Operate the hotel switchboard, direct calls, and take messages accurately.
- Process payments, maintain accurate cash float, and handle billing discrepancies.
- Provide detailed information about hotel facilities, services, and local attractions.
- Manage reservations, cancellations, and modifications, ensuring accuracy and availability.
- Maintain a tidy and organised reception area, ensuring it reflects the hotel's high standards.
- Liaise with other departments (housekeeping, maintenance) to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to all hotel security, safety, and data protection policies.
- Perform administrative duties such as sorting mail, preparing reports, and managing supplies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably within hospitality (1+ year).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using hotel management systems (PMS) or similar booking software.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
- A professional and friendly demeanour with a passion for guest satisfaction.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically as a Hotel Receptionist.
- Fluency in an additional language (e.g., French, German, Spanish).
- Knowledge of local Sheffield attractions and amenities.
- A relevant qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Experience with a specific PMS like Opera, Guestline, or Fidelio.
