Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and vigilant Hotel Security Officer to join the team of one of our esteemed hospitality clients located in the vibrant Independence Layout, Enugu. This pivotal role is essential for upholding the highest standards of safety and security for our guests, staff, and property. As a Hotel Security Officer, you will be the frontline guardian, responsible for maintaining a secure and welcoming environment, deterring potential threats, and responding swiftly and effectively to any security incidents. Your duties will encompass a wide range of security functions, from conducting regular patrols and monitoring surveillance equipment to managing access control and assisting guests with security-related concerns. This position demands a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. You will play a crucial part in ensuring a seamless and secure experience for everyone within the hotel premises, contributing directly to the hotel’s reputation for safety and service excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular and thorough patrols of hotel premises, including guest rooms floors, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior grounds, to identify and address security risks and potential hazards.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems diligently, responding promptly and appropriately to any suspicious activities, security breaches, or emergencies.
  • Enforce hotel policies and procedures consistently and fairly to ensure maximum guest and employee safety, security, and compliance.
  • Investigate and accurately document all incidents, accidents, security breaches, and suspicious occurrences, preparing detailed and timely reports for management review.
  • Assist guests with security-related inquiries, managing lost and found items with integrity, and providing directions or other necessary information while maintaining a helpful demeanor.
  • Control access to restricted areas of the hotel, meticulously verifying credentials of all visitors, contractors, and staff as per established security protocols.
  • Respond effectively to all types of emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, disturbances, and evacuations, coordinating swiftly with relevant authorities and internal teams as needed.
  • Maintain a highly visible and professional presence throughout the hotel to actively deter criminal activity and ensure a pervasive sense of safety and security for all occupants.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, and F&B, to address security concerns and contribute to an overall positive guest experience.
  • Conduct thorough baggage and parcel checks as per hotel policy and entry protocols, ensuring adherence to security standards at all access points.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in security, law enforcement, or a closely related field, with a preference for hotel security experience.
  • Exceptional observational skills, keen attention to detail, and clear, concise communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to competently operate surveillance equipment, CCTV systems, and alarm systems.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make sound, decisive judgments under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures, with relevant certifications being a significant advantage.
  • Excellent physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods, and perform duties requiring physical exertion.
  • Unwavering commitment to integrity, high professionalism, and strict adherence to ethical conduct.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential for effective communication and report writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Security Officer in a reputable 4- or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Certification in basic fire safety and emergency management, or relevant security training programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local security laws, regulations, and relevant ordinances in Enugu, Nigeria.
  • Proficiency in additional local languages, such as Igbo, would be an added advantage for guest and staff interaction.
