Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of hotel premises, including guest rooms floors, public areas, and back-of-house areas, to detect and prevent unauthorized activities, theft, or disturbances.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and security systems to identify suspicious behavior or potential threats.
- Respond promptly and effectively to all security incidents, emergencies (e.g., fires, medical emergencies), and alarms, taking appropriate action as per established protocols.
- Investigate reported incidents, complete detailed incident reports, and liaise with local law enforcement when necessary.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by guests, visitors, and staff.
- Control access to restricted areas, verify credentials, and manage key control systems.
- Assist guests and staff with security-related concerns and provide a visible security presence to deter criminal activity.
- Conduct baggage inspections as required and ensure proper handling of lost and found items.
- Participate in ongoing training and drills related to security, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless and secure guest experience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of security operations and procedures.
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and security systems.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication for report writing and liaising with various stakeholders.
- Physically fit and able to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Valid security guard license/certification (if applicable in Nigeria).
- Basic first aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with international guests or in a luxury hotel setting.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and emergency services contacts in Abuja.
- Training in conflict resolution or de-escalation techniques.
- A background in law enforcement or military service.
