Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen utensils, cookware, dishes, glassware, and cutlery according to strict hygiene standards and established protocols.
- Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment, including industrial dishwashers, ensuring its proper function and cleanliness.
- Assist in the organization and proper storage of food and beverage inventory, maintaining FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to minimize waste.
- Regularly clean and scrub kitchen floors, walls, drains, and storage areas to uphold pristine conditions and prevent contamination.
- Remove trash and recycling from kitchen and dining areas, ensuring proper segregation and disposal procedures are consistently followed.
- Support culinary and serving staff by transporting supplies, setting up buffets, and clearing tables efficiently as needed during service hours.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines set by the hotel and local regulatory authorities.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, breakages, or safety hazards to management promptly to ensure immediate action.
- Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage of goods in designated areas.
- Participate in regular deep cleaning projects, equipment maintenance, and inventory counts as required by management.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently in a demanding, fast-paced kitchen or hospitality environment.
- Strong attention to detail and unwavering commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Physical stamina and strength to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 25kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with colleagues and supervisors.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly in a food service setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 1 year) as a Steward, Dishwasher, or similar role in a reputable hotel or restaurant.
- A valid food handler's certificate or equivalent certification from a recognized authority.
- Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals, their safe handling, and proper usage.
- Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment.
