Job Description

Maliba Lodge is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented House Maintenance Worker to join our vibrant team in Khukhune, Butha-Buthe. This is a critical role that underpins the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of our guests, as well as the longevity and aesthetic appeal of our magnificent lodge properties. You will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of our facilities, performing a wide range of repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, and general upkeep that contribute to the overall luxurious experience we promise. Your days will be dynamic, requiring a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail across various trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repairs. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on lodge buildings, facilities, and guest rooms.
  • Execute general repairs including plumbing (leaks, blockages), electrical (light fixtures, outlets), carpentry (furniture, doors, windows), and painting.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, addressing issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify and rectify potential maintenance concerns before they escalate.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, ensuring a safe and organized workshop.
  • Assist with groundskeeping tasks as needed, ensuring the outdoor areas of the lodge are well-maintained.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe environment for guests and colleagues.
  • Provide support for special projects and renovations as directed by management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in general building maintenance or a related trade.
  • Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot common maintenance issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills (verbal) in English and/or Sesotho.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant trade certification or vocational training in a skilled trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Previous experience in a hospitality or lodge environment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in maintenance operations.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems.
