The Aiyana Resort & Spa Pemba is seeking a highly motivated and reliable Entry Level Housing Estate Maintenance Aide to join our esteemed team. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine visual inspections of designated staff housing and communal areas to identify maintenance needs.
- Conduct minor repairs such as fixing leaky faucets, replacing light bulbs, adjusting doors, and other basic handyman tasks.
- Assist senior maintenance technicians with more complex repairs and installations, learning new skills on the job.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of maintenance workshops, storage areas, and equipment.
- Undertake basic groundskeeping tasks, including sweeping pathways, clearing debris, and assisting with garden upkeep as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff, ensuring issues are addressed efficiently and courteously.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used for inventory and tracking purposes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while performing duties, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Operate and maintain basic maintenance tools and equipment responsibly.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of general maintenance concepts or eagerness to learn.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25kg), and standing for extended periods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- High level of responsibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Fluency in Swahili; basic English communication is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Prior informal experience in a handyman role, household repairs, or general labor.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, or electrical work is a plus.
- Residency in Chake Chake or nearby areas of Pemba Island.
- A valid local driving or motorcycle license (not essential but beneficial).
