Job Description
Are you a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with a passion for people? Super U Goodlands is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Human Resources Assistant to join our dynamic HR team. This full-time, on-site role offers an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience across various facets of Human Resources within a fast-paced retail environment. You will work closely with the HR Manager and the wider management team, assisting with everything from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and administrative support. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job advertisements, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and coordinating pre-employment checks.
- Prepare and manage HR-related documentation, such as offer letters, employment contracts, new hire paperwork, and employee handbooks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both physical and digital, ensuring strict compliance with data protection and confidentiality regulations.
- Support the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing induction materials, conducting initial orientations, and ensuring a seamless integration into the team.
- Assist with payroll preparation by gathering and providing relevant employee data, attendance records, leave information, and other necessary inputs to the finance department.
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, administrative procedures, and general HR-related matters.
- Organise and coordinate HR-related events, training sessions, workshops, and employee engagement activities to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Support the HR Manager with various administrative tasks, special projects, and reporting as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the HR department.
- Assist in the implementation and communication of company policies and procedures to all employees.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in an administrative or HR support role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
- Familiarity with Mauritian labour laws and regulations.
- Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) or payroll software.
- Knowledge of retail sector operations and challenges.
