Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and resilient Humanitarian Aid Worker to join our Field Program team on a contract basis, operating primarily within the George, Western Cape region and surrounding areas. This crucial role involves direct, hands-on engagement with communities affected by various challenges, ranging from natural disasters such as floods and fires, to socio-economic hardships including food insecurity, water scarcity, and lack of essential services. As a Humanitarian Aid Worker, you will be at the forefront of our relief efforts, responsible for conducting rapid needs assessments, coordinating and overseeing the safe and equitable distribution of aid – including food parcels, water, blankets, and hygiene kits – and actively participating in the implementation of community-based programs. These programs are designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to foster long-term resilience and recovery within affected populations. This position demands an individual who is highly adaptable, possesses acute cultural sensitivity, and is capable of working effectively and independently in dynamic, unpredictable, and often challenging environments. You will serve as a vital representative of Gift of the Givers in the field, tasked with building and maintaining trust with local populations, collaborating seamlessly with community leaders, local authorities, and other humanitarian stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient, transparent, and ethical delivery of all humanitarian assistance. The contract duration will be clearly specified upon offer, with potential for extension based on evolving program needs and individual performance. This is more than just a job; it’s a profound call to serve, to make a tangible and immediate difference in the lives of those who need it most, bringing hope, dignity, and practical support during their darkest hours. Your unwavering commitment and compassionate action will directly contribute to upholding human dignity and restoring stability in vulnerable communities across the Western Cape.
