Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced HVAC Technician to join our dynamic building maintenance team in Machakos County. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the comfort, safety, and operational efficiency of our facilities through expert care of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC/R equipment, including air conditioners, heaters, ventilation systems, refrigeration units, and associated controls.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC/R systems using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components such as compressors, motors, thermostats, sensors, and refrigerant lines.
  • Monitor and adjust building management systems (BMS) to optimize HVAC performance and energy efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions before they lead to system failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair work, and system performance data.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and system breakdowns, providing effective and efficient solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and company policies during all work activities.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members and facility staff on integrated building system projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Technician, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems, components, and their operational principles.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with various refrigerants and their safe handling practices.
  • Valid HVAC certification or relevant trade qualification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in HVAC Technology, Refrigeration, or a related field.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or DDC controls.
  • Prior experience working in a large facility or multi-site environment.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation techniques and sustainable HVAC practices.
