Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair various types of HVAC systems, including split units, ducted systems, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, and associated controls.
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues in HVAC equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks, clean filters, inspect ducts, and ensure optimal system performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Accurately document all service and repair work, including parts used and hours spent.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and local building codes during all installations and repairs.
- Communicate effectively with clients, explaining technical issues and solutions clearly and professionally.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians when required.
- Manage and maintain company-provided tools and equipment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and HVAC controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex HVAC issues effectively.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools common to the trade.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in HVAC, Refrigeration, or a related technical field.
- EPA Universal Certification or equivalent local certifications.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) integration.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient HVAC solutions and green building practices.
- Familiarity with various HVAC brands and models prevalent in the Kenyan market.
