Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Industrial Machine Operator to become a vital part of our dedicated production team at our processing facility in Rulindo, Northern Province. In this crucial hands-on role, you will be primarily responsible for the proficient operation, meticulous monitoring, and routine maintenance of sophisticated industrial machinery integral to our tea processing operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient, safe, and consistent production of our renowned tea products, strictly adhering to our rigorous quality control standards and ambitious production schedules. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and continuously monitor a variety of industrial tea processing machinery, including drying, sorting, cutting, and packaging equipment, strictly adhering to established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform routine pre-operation checks, preventative maintenance tasks, and minor adjustments on machines to ensure optimal performance, prevent breakdowns, and minimize production downtime.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues, implementing basic corrective actions and escalating complex problems to maintenance personnel when necessary.
- Diligent monitoring of product quality throughout the processing stages, ensuring strict adherence to company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately complete and maintain detailed production logs, recording critical data such as output volume, machine performance metrics, material consumption, and any encountered operational anomalies.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a hazard-free work area.
- Collaborate effectively with production supervisors, quality control teams, and other team members to optimize workflow, enhance efficiency, and consistently achieve daily and weekly production targets.
- Maintain an exceptionally clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, practicing excellent housekeeping principles across the operational floor.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products as required, ensuring proper handling and storage.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a machine operator in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot complex industrial machinery.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in all tasks, ensuring high-quality output.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret technical manuals, safety instructions, and production schedules.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations for measurements, data recording, and inventory management.
- Unwavering commitment to workplace safety and a thorough understanding of safety guidelines and procedures.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift moderate weights, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in an industrial environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical vocational training or certification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Direct experience operating tea processing machinery (e.g., Withers, CTC machines, dryers) or similar food/beverage processing equipment.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and machine interface operation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both Kinyarwanda and basic English.
