Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant German and European occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., Arbeitsschutzgesetz, DGUV Vorschriften).
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert safety advice and guidance to management, project teams, and employees.
- Organize and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for all levels of staff.
- Prepare and maintain detailed safety documentation, reports, and statistics.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and emergency services as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety performance and culture within the organization.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Industrial Safety Officer or Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (f/m/d).
- Deep knowledge of German occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and train others.
- Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (FaSi) or equivalent German certification.
- Additional qualifications in environmental protection or quality management.
- Experience in the manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industry sectors.
- Proficiency in safety management software.
