Job Description

We are actively seeking a diligent, empathetic, and exceptionally detail-oriented Insurance Claims Adjuster, with a significant remote work option, to join our rapidly expanding team based in Hwange. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive investigation, meticulous evaluation, and fair settlement of insurance claims, ensuring a prompt and equitable resolution for our valued policyholders. As a Claims Adjuster, you will often be the primary point of contact and the face of Zimnat during what can frequently be a challenging time for our clients, thus requiring exceptional communication skills, a strong sense of empathy, and an unwavering eye for detail. You will be entrusted with managing a diverse and varied caseload, from the initial claim notification through to its final settlement, adhering strictly to all company policies, regulatory requirements, and the highest ethical guidelines. While this position offers substantial remote flexibility, occasional and necessary on-site visits to claim sites within the broader Matabeleland North Province may be required, allowing for a well-balanced and efficient work model. Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and thoroughly evaluate insurance claims by gathering comprehensive information, interviewing claimants and witnesses, meticulously reviewing policy details, and accurately assessing damages.
  • Determine coverage and liability for each claim, ensuring strict adherence to policy terms and conditions.
  • Negotiate fair and equitable settlements with claimants and third parties, consistently aiming for optimal resolutions.
  • Document all investigation findings, communications, and settlement decisions accurately and thoroughly within the claims management system.
  • Communicate clearly, empathetically, and proactively with policyholders, keeping them fully informed of the claims process and managing expectations effectively.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel, expert witnesses, and external service providers as necessary to resolve complex and intricate claims.
  • Identify and report potential fraudulent claims, escalating findings to appropriate internal departments for further action.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices within Zimbabwe.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and assessments in the Hwange and surrounding Matabeleland North areas as and when required.
  • Manage a diverse caseload efficiently and effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet stringent service level agreements and deadlines.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements within the claims department.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as an Insurance Claims Adjuster or in a directly similar claims handling role.
  • Strong and comprehensive understanding of insurance policies, terms, conditions, and claims processes.
  • Exceptional analytical and robust problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in using claims management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage a diverse caseload effectively in a remote setting.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel locally for site visits within the province.
  • Unwavering ethical standards and uncompromising integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a closely related field.
  • Professional insurance certifications (e.g., IISA, ACII, COP).
  • Specific experience with property, motor, and general liability claims.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Zimbabwean insurance regulatory framework.
  • Familiarity with remote work best practices and collaborative digital tools.
