Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive client consultations to ascertain design preferences, functional needs, budget, and project timelines.
  • Develop innovative and cohesive interior design concepts, including mood boards, material palettes, and detailed presentations.
  • Produce precise floor plans, elevations, 3D renderings, and technical drawings using industry-standard design software.
  • Select and specify furniture, fixtures, finishes, lighting, and accessories (FF&A) that align with the design vision and client budget.
  • Source and establish relationships with reputable vendors, suppliers, and artisans for materials and bespoke items.
  • Manage all aspects of project execution, including budget tracking, procurement, scheduling, and logistics, from concept to completion.
  • Oversee the installation and styling phases, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to the design specifications.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay current with emerging design trends, new materials, technologies, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, proposals, and purchase orders.

Required Skills

  • Proven proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong understanding of space planning, color theory, lighting design, textile selection, and material properties.
  • Exceptional creativity, artistic flair, and a keen eye for aesthetics and meticulous detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients and collaborators.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing successful previous interior design projects.
  • Fluent in both German and English, written and spoken, for effective communication in Potsdam.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • NCIDQ certification or equivalent professional accreditation (e.g., in Germany).
  • Experience with sustainable design practices, biophilic design, and eco-friendly materials.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or a strong background in project coordination.
  • An existing network of reliable local contractors, artisans, and suppliers in the Potsdam/Berlin area.
