Job Description

Optiven Limited, a pioneer in delivering aspirational living spaces, is seeking a talented and passionate Interior Designer specializing in Home Improvement to join our dynamic team in Machakos County. As an Interior Designer for Home Improvement, you will be instrumental in transforming residential spaces into inspiring, functional, and personalized homes. You will work closely with our diverse clientele, from initial consultation to project completion, to understand their vision, budget, and lifestyle needs. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of current design trends, material knowledge, and the ability to manage projects efficiently from concept through to installation. You will be responsible for developing innovative design concepts, creating detailed plans, specifying materials and furnishings, and overseeing the execution to ensure design integrity and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client consultations to understand their needs, preferences, lifestyle, and budget for home improvement projects.
  • Develop creative and functional interior design concepts, mood boards, and space plans for residential properties.
  • Prepare detailed design presentations, including 2D drawings (floor plans, elevations) and 3D renderings (using software like SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Source and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), materials, finishes, lighting, and decorative items.
  • Develop comprehensive project timelines, budgets, and procurement schedules.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other professionals to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to design specifications.
  • Oversee on-site installation and styling, ensuring quality control and timely completion.
  • Manage client expectations, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Interior Designer, specifically in home improvement or residential projects.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Photoshop, and other rendering tools.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful residential interior design projects.
  • Excellent understanding of design principles, color theory, space planning, and material properties.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work within budgets.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations relevant to interior design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Professional certification from a recognized interior design association.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • A keen understanding of sustainable design practices and eco-friendly materials.
