Job Description

Career.zycto is on the lookout for a talented and enthusiastic Interior Designer specializing in Home Improvement to join our vibrant team in Buru Buru, Nairobi. This is a unique opportunity for a creative individual who excels at translating client visions into beautifully functional and aesthetically pleasing living spaces. As an Interior Designer, you will be the cornerstone of our home transformation projects, from initial concept to final execution.

Your role will involve close collaboration with clients, understanding their needs, preferences, and budgets to develop innovative design solutions. You will be responsible for creating detailed design plans, selecting materials, finishes, furniture, and decorative items that align with the project’s aesthetic and functional requirements. Beyond the design board, you will manage project timelines, coordinate with contractors and suppliers, and ensure that all aspects of the design are implemented to the highest standards.

We are seeking someone who not only possesses exceptional design skills but also has a strong understanding of practical home renovation processes, local building codes, and material sourcing in Nairobi. You should be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial client consultations to understand project scope, budget, and design preferences for home improvement projects.
  • Develop detailed design concepts, including space planning, furniture layouts, material palettes, and lighting plans.
  • Prepare presentations (mood boards, 3D renderings, floor plans) to effectively communicate design ideas to clients.
  • Source and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), finishes, and accessories, ensuring quality and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to design specifications.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and procurement processes, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and within allocated resources.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, address design-related issues, and ensure quality control throughout the renovation process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, sustainable design practices, and local building regulations.
  • Provide exceptional client service, building strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction from concept to completion.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in residential interior design or home improvement projects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven project management and organizational abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of local building materials, suppliers, and construction practices in Kenya.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for aesthetics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., from a recognized interior design association).
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and green building materials.
  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of client styles and budgets.
