Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Interior Designer to join our team, specializing in home improvement projects within Naivasha, Nakuru County. As an Interior Designer at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in transforming our clients’ visions into stunning, functional, and personalized living spaces. This role demands a keen eye for aesthetics, a deep understanding of design principles, and a strong ability to manage projects from concept to completion. You will work closely with homeowners, understanding their needs, preferences, and budgets to craft bespoke design solutions that enhance the beauty, comfort, and value of their homes.

Your responsibilities will span the entire design lifecycle, including initial consultations, conceptual development, space planning, material and furniture selection, detailed budgeting, and meticulous project coordination. We are looking for someone who can not only produce breathtaking designs but also effectively communicate their ideas through compelling presentations and technical drawings. You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest interior design trends, sustainable practices, and innovative materials, continuously bringing fresh perspectives to our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial client consultations to understand project scope, client preferences, budget, and functional requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive design concepts, including mood boards, material palettes, and conceptual sketches.
  • Create detailed space plans, 2D layouts, and 3D renderings using industry-standard software.
  • Source and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), finishes, and materials from local and international suppliers.
  • Prepare accurate project budgets, timelines, and procurement schedules.
  • Present design concepts to clients, incorporating feedback and making revisions as necessary.
  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee project installations, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and address any design-related issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of interior design trends, building codes, and sustainable design practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Strong portfolio showcasing residential interior design projects
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and visual)
  • Proven project management and organizational abilities
  • Creative flair, strong aesthetic sense, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in budgeting and procurement processes
  • Knowledge of materials, finishes, and furniture styles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
  • Certification from a recognized interior design association (e.g., NCIDQ, IIDA)
  • Experience with sustainable and eco-friendly design practices
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Kenya
  • Experience in bespoke furniture design or custom millwork
