Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for meetings, presentations, phone calls, and client interactions.
- Translate documents, emails, reports, and other written materials from English to Swahili and vice versa, maintaining linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Ensure complete accuracy and confidentiality of all interpreted and translated content, adhering to ethical standards.
- Act as a linguistic and cultural liaison, facilitating effective communication between non-English speaking clients/partners and our English-speaking teams.
- Assist in developing cross-cultural communication training materials or guidelines as needed.
- Manage interpretation requests and schedules efficiently to support various departments.
- Maintain professional demeanor and composure in high-pressure communication scenarios.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential communication barriers.
Required Skills
- Native-level fluency in English and Swahili (both spoken and written).
- Proven experience in simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in a professional setting.
- Exceptional listening, comprehension, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of cultural nuances and professional etiquette in both linguistic contexts.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using interpretation equipment and common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
