Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and proactive Inventory Officer with expertise in warehouse control to join our growing team in Runda, Nairobi. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily inventory operations, including accurate receiving, systematic storage, and efficient dispatch of goods.
- Maintain precise stock records using advanced inventory management software and perform regular data entry and updates.
- Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and perform thorough reconciliation of discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
- Implement and enforce robust inventory control procedures and best practices to minimize loss, damage, and optimize stock levels.
- Monitor stock levels proactively to identify potential shortages or overstock situations and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed inventory reports, analyzing trends, identifying key insights, and providing recommendations for purchasing and operational decisions.
- Coordinate effectively with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure timely availability of goods and a smooth flow of operations.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for all inventory items, strictly adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Identify, propose, and implement continuous process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency, accuracy, and overall productivity.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior warehouse staff on inventory procedures and effective system usage.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in inventory management and warehouse control.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Fishbowl, or similar ERP systems).
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent data entry, record-keeping, and organizational abilities.
- High level of accuracy and meticulousness in all tasks.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of supply chain principles and adherence to warehouse safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification in Inventory Management (e.g., APICS CSCP, CPIM).
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles or just-in-time (JIT) inventory systems.
- Familiarity with Kenyan import/export regulations pertaining to inventory management.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a warehouse setting.
