Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair various irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler, and pivot systems, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Perform routine inspections of irrigation equipment, lines, emitters, and controllers to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems within irrigation systems, performing necessary repairs and replacements.
- Monitor water usage and system efficiency, making adjustments as needed to optimize water conservation and distribution.
- Operate and program automated irrigation controllers and other related farm management software.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, water usage, and equipment inventory.
- Collaborate with farm management and agronomy teams to ensure irrigation schedules align with crop needs and growth cycles.
- Adhere strictly to all farm safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Assist in the planning and layout of new irrigation system installations or upgrades.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as an Irrigation Technician in a farm or agricultural setting.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic principles, water pressure, and flow dynamics.
- Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, pivot).
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical components, valves, pumps, and automated controllers.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and pipe fitting techniques.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate farm vehicles for work-related tasks.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform manual labor.
