Job Description
Are you a highly organized individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for clarity in information? Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous IT Documentation Coordinator to join our growing team in Riversdale, Saskatoon. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and organizing comprehensive documentation for our diverse IT systems, processes, and applications. This position is vital for ensuring that our IT knowledge base is accurate, accessible, and up-to-date, supporting seamless operations and efficient problem-solving across the organization.
As an IT Documentation Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with various IT teams, including network operations, software development, cybersecurity, and help desk support, to gather information and translate complex technical details into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. Your work will directly impact our ability to onboard new employees, troubleshoot issues effectively, adhere to compliance standards, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives within our IT department. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and update technical documentation, including user manuals, system guides, process flows, operational procedures, configuration documents, and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with IT professionals, subject matter experts, and various departments to gather information, identify documentation needs, and ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
- Organize and maintain the IT documentation repository, ensuring proper version control, accessibility, and adherence to established naming conventions and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of existing documentation to identify gaps, inaccuracies, or outdated information, initiating updates as required.
- Simplify complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly language for diverse audiences, from IT specialists to end-users.
- Assist in the development and implementation of documentation standards, templates, and best practices within the IT department.
- Provide training and support to team members on documentation tools and processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT knowledge management strategies and systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a documentation, technical writing, or similar coordination role within an IT environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to translate technical concepts into easily understandable content.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Wiki platforms, Microsoft Word, Visio).
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and software development lifecycles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, English, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) principles, ITIL framework, or similar methodologies.
- Experience with diagramming tools to illustrate technical processes and architectures.
- Knowledge of version control systems for documentation.
- Experience in a large corporate or co-operative environment.
