Job Description

Amaan Beach Bungalows is seeking a bright and motivated IT Junior Technician to join our dynamic team in Kiwengwa, Zanzibar. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to all resort staff for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, peripherals, and network devices.
  • Perform routine system checks, updates, and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues (LAN/Wi-Fi) and escalate complex problems to senior IT staff.
  • Support hotel-specific applications and systems, including Point of Sale (POS) and Property Management Systems (PMS).
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of IT assets and software licenses.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating IT documentation, policies, and procedures.
  • Respond to IT service requests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring high levels of user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to identify and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure data backup procedures are followed and assist with data recovery efforts when necessary.
  • Adhere to all IT security protocols and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware components and software applications.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing IT landscapes.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • CompTIA A+ or similar entry-level IT certification.
  • Previous experience (even informal or volunteer) in a technical support role.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with ticketing systems or IT service management tools.
  • Familiarity with the hospitality industry and hotel specific software (e.g., Opera PMS, Micros POS).
