Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Support Technician to join our dynamic team in Busia, Busia County. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our branch’s technology infrastructure, directly supporting our staff and contributing to seamless customer service. As an IT Support Technician, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries and issues, providing essential technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and maintaining network functionality. You will play a vital role in preventing IT disruptions, responding swiftly to technical emergencies, and implementing best practices to optimize system performance and security. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues for all branch staff.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
  • Perform routine system checks, updates, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security of IT assets.
  • Monitor network connectivity, identify potential issues, and assist in resolving local area network (LAN) problems.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with bank security policies.
  • Document all support activities, resolutions, and system configurations accurately and promptly.
  • Assist with the implementation of new IT systems, applications, and technology upgrades within the branch.
  • Conduct basic training for staff on new software, hardware, and IT policies.
  • Escalate complex IT issues to senior IT personnel or external vendors when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all IT security protocols and company guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows Server basic understanding)
  • Strong knowledge of hardware components, troubleshooting, and basic repairs.
  • Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP), basic networking concepts, and connectivity issues.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation).
  • Experience working in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of banking specific applications and systems.
  • Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL.
