Job Description

This role is for an experienced IT Support Specialist eager to relocate and build a thriving career in Canada. Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Support professional for immediate hire to join our vibrant team in Alta Vista, Ottawa. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be the frontline hero ensuring the smooth operation of our internal IT systems, network infrastructure, and user workstations. Your primary goal will be to provide comprehensive technical assistance and support to our employees, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently and effectively. This critical role involves everything from setting up new user accounts and configuring equipment to troubleshooting complex network problems and implementing system updates. You will work closely with various departments, offering patient and clear explanations of technical solutions to users with varying levels of technical understanding. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, printers, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across various systems.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi) and collaborate with network engineers.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and patch management.
  • Respond to IT support tickets promptly and document resolutions accurately in our ticketing system.
  • Educate users on best practices for system usage and security protocols.
  • Participate in IT asset management, including inventory tracking and procurement.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Support remote users and maintain remote access solutions.
  • Perform routine system checks and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in IT Support or Help Desk roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware issues for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Familiarity with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and IT service management (ITSM) tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate).
  • Experience with macOS and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with VoIP systems and video conferencing tools.
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and endpoint security solutions.
