Career.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and dedicated IT Technician to join our bustling team in Kirkhill, Aberdeen. This pivotal role requires a hands-on approach to managing and maintaining our clients’ IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and optimal performance. As an IT Technician, you will be the frontline support, responsible for the complete lifecycle of hardware – from meticulous setup and configuration to proactive troubleshooting and repairs. You’ll work with a variety of operating systems, network devices, and peripherals, offering critical support to end-users and playing a vital role in keeping businesses running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades for desktops, laptops, servers, and network equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues efficiently and effectively, both on-site and remotely.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, addressing queries and issues related to IT systems, applications, and peripherals.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points.
  • Implement and maintain security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and data backup solutions.
  • Document all IT incidents, resolutions, and system configurations accurately.
  • Assist with IT asset management, including inventory tracking and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on projects, system improvements, and strategic planning.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in IT hardware setup, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows Server).
  • Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic networking concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common business applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for client site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional).
  • Experience with Apple macOS environments.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure).
  • Prior experience in an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
