Job Description
Naivas Supermarket in Kisii County is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Janitor to join our operations team. As a Janitor, you will be instrumental in ensuring our premises maintain an impeccable standard of cleanliness and hygiene, contributing significantly to a pleasant and safe shopping and working environment for everyone. You will be responsible for a wide range of cleaning duties, ensuring all areas of the supermarket, including sales floors, restrooms, back-office areas, and common spaces, are spotless and well-maintained throughout operating hours. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors in all store areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms thoroughly, ensuring they are always stocked with necessary supplies.
- Empty waste bins and recycling containers regularly and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors to ensure clarity and sparkle.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, fixtures, shelving, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of staff rooms, offices, and other back-of-house areas.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers safely.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, reporting needs to management.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting damages.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies or spillages.
- Ensure cleanliness around the external perimeter of the store, including entrances.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in janitorial or cleaning services, preferably in a retail or commercial setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Basic communication skills to interact with colleagues and management.
