Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, and edit news articles, features, and investigative pieces for print and online platforms.
- Conduct interviews with sources, community members, and officials to gather accurate information.
- Attend press conferences, public meetings, and local events to cover breaking news and stories.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of local contacts and sources within the Bristol community.
- Generate original story ideas and pitch compelling narratives relevant to the Patchway and wider Bristol area.
- Adapt writing style and tone for different platforms, ensuring content is optimized for both print readability and online engagement (SEO, social media).
- Verify facts, figures, and statements to ensure journalistic accuracy and uphold ethical standards.
- Collaborate closely with editors, photographers, videographers, and other team members to produce high-quality multimedia content.
- Manage multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.
- Contribute to social media channels and engage with online readers to foster community interaction and drive readership.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Journalist, Reporter, or similar editorial role.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English, with impeccable grammar and style.
- Strong research and investigative abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent interviewing and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
