Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and subsidiary accounts.
  • Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports by gathering and consolidating relevant data.
  • Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including recording transactions and reconciling bank statements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures under supervision.
  • Verify the accuracy of financial data and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for all financial documents, both physical and digital.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve existing processes and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance department as needed, including data entry and document management.

Required Skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (intermediate level).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with utmost discretion.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for clear internal and external interactions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a reputable institution.
  • Prior internship or limited work experience (up to 1 year) in an accounting or finance role.
  • Familiarity with common accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books).
  • Basic knowledge of local tax regulations in Nigeria (e.g., VAT, PAYE).
