Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated Junior Penetration Testing Assistant to join our growing team in Quebec City. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior penetration testers with security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests (web applications, networks, cloud).
  • Meticulously document findings, including identified vulnerabilities and attack paths.
  • Conduct research on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
  • Support the development and refinement of testing methodologies and tools.
  • Participate in client debriefs, explaining technical findings.
  • Learn and apply industry best practices and frameworks (e.g., OWASP, NIST).
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and skill development initiatives.
  • Perform basic host and network reconnaissance.

Required Skills

  • Foundational understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS).
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Understanding of common web application vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingualism (English/French) preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+).
  • Familiarity with penetration testing tools like Nmap, Metasploit, Burp Suite.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platform security concepts (AWS, Azure).
  • Demonstrable personal projects or contributions to security initiatives.
