Job Description

The Corner Pub & Grill is actively seeking a talented and dedicated Kitchen Cook to join our dynamic team in Ha Hoohlo, Maseru. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing, as per recipes and kitchen standards.
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff, ensuring timely and high-quality output.
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications set by the Head Chef, maintaining consistency in all dishes.
  • Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (grills, fryers, ovens, etc.).
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations (HACCP principles).
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate ingredient needs to the Head Chef.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including kitchen equipment and storage areas.
  • Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning as needed.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth order flow and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, fostering teamwork and clear communication.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant or pub setting.
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for quality food preparation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent certification from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with local Basotho cuisine and international pub fare.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Prior experience in a similar role in Maseru.
