Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitize kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment according to health and safety standards.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchenware manually or using dishwashing machines.
- Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and organization of stock in accordance with FIFO principles.
- Support the kitchen team by performing general cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping floors, and emptying trash.
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene protocols are strictly followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in plating and presentation of dishes as needed, following chef's instructions.
- Organize and maintain dry storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively and efficiently.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability are essential.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs comfortably.
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a team-player mentality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
