Quthing Hotel is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Kitchen Worker to join our dynamic team in Mphaki, Quthing. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is eager to learn, takes immense pride in their work, and understands the foundational importance of meticulous kitchen operations to overall guest satisfaction. As a Kitchen Worker, you will be an integral part of our culinary team, directly supporting our talented chefs and cooks by ensuring that all kitchen areas are meticulously maintained, dishes and utensils are spotless, and essential food preparation tasks are executed smoothly and hygienically. Your role is crucial in enabling our team to consistently create the delicious, locally-inspired meals our guests love. You will handle a diverse range of responsibilities from washing dishes, pots, and pans to assisting with basic food preparation such as peeling and chopping vegetables, receiving and organizing supplies, and maintaining a tidy and organised storage area. This position requires someone who is reliable, physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights, and deeply committed to upholding stringent health and safety standards at all times. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate dishwashers and wash all dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and cooking equipment by hand or machine to maintain high levels of hygiene.
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, chopping, and storing vegetables and fruits as instructed by kitchen staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, including floors, counters, walls, and storage areas.
  • Properly store food items and supplies, ensuring adherence to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles and temperature guidelines.
  • Receive and unpack deliveries, verifying contents against invoices and storing items appropriately.
  • Remove trash and recycling, ensuring proper disposal procedures are followed.
  • Assist chefs and cooks with other kitchen duties as required, contributing to a smooth workflow.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding and commitment to kitchen hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20kg, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • A food handler's certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with various kitchen equipment and cleaning agents.
